Virginia’s Swedish Candy: A Richmond Trolley Ride Through 7,000 Pounds

Virginia’s only Swedish candy store started as a vacation souvenir. A husband-and-wife team fell for pick-and-mix on trips to Sweden and Copenhagen, then opened Trolley Car Sweets and Treats in Richmond’s Fan district.

Opened July 1, 2026 by Jacob Horsfall and Nikki Victoria, a husband-and-wife team (ex-Target/Amazon corporate; Horsfall is a former Peace Corps volunteer and middle-school geography teacher). Scandinavian-inspired pick-and-mix with ~100 varieties from Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, Germany, Mexico and the Netherlands, about 7,000 pounds of confections in rainbow bins, salty licorice included. The concept came straight from their Sweden and Copenhagen Candy King trips.
