Lil Sweet Treat Swedish candy store in Boston - BUBS candy mix from the Newbury Street shop

Boston’s Swedish Candy Wave: 4 Shops, From Beacon Hill to Cape Cod

Massachusetts has a compact but serious Swedish candy scene. Most of it sits within an hour of Boston, and since July 2026 there is a dedicated shop out west in Northampton too. The throughline is founder-driven: a Cape Cod trailer that grew into four locations, a Swedish native handmaking chocolates in Hull, a 29-year-old who quit public health to open a candy shop in the South End, and NYC’s viral chain planting its flag on Newbury Street. Here’s every dedicated Swedish candy store in Massachusetts, with addresses.

NYC’s bootstrapped chain founded by Elly Ross and her husband Jack Ross brought its 150–200 rotating candy types to Back Bay (~May 2025), Boston’s second Swedish-focused specialty candy shop. Famous for foaming BUBS (dizzy bubblegum skull, sour fruity pear). Pricing: 1.5 lb mixes $33 on UberEats (~$22/lb); mini BUBS samplers $4.99. Active on DoorDash, UberEats and Postmates (4.7–4.8 ratings).

Owner Madeleine Brason, 29, spent seven years in public health and clinical research before quitting to open this shop on February 1, 2025, inspired by NYC’s BonBon, run as a family business with her older sister. Swedish candy (especially BUBS) is a core line alongside picks from Spain, Brazil, the Netherlands and New England; 50+ pick-and-mix varieties, BUBS “Madbags” in pre-made 1/4-lb and 1/2-lb sizes, plus a soft-serve ice cream window next door. Pic & Mix: Kenmore Square’s photo-booth pick-and-mix

472 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA 02215 (Kenmore Square) · Mon–Sat 11 AM–10 PM, Sun 12–9 PM · picnmixboston.com

The newest name on Boston’s Swedish candy map is a mother-daughter-run shop a few blocks from Fenway Park, opened in 2026 and already on Boston Uncovered’s top-five list for the city. Pic & Mix calls itself Boston’s sweetest shop for premium Swedish and globally sourced candy and chocolates, and the layout backs it up: three sections (Classic Pick N Mix, Chocolate Pick N Mix, and prepackaged Quick Pics), a wall of imported chocolate bars, and flavors like passion fruit rambos that rarely show up elsewhere in the city. Dietary options get their own signage (gluten friendly, nut free, dairy free, vegan). The gimmick that sticks is the on-site old-school photo booth, plus 35mm cameras and a mobile candy cart the shop books out for events.

Nantasket Sweets By Swedes BUBS candy mix at the Beacon Hill store in Boston

Nantasket Sweets By Swedes: Beacon Hill’s Swedish native

115 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114 (Beacon Hill) · Daily 12–8 PM · nantasketsweets.com

The Beacon Hill location (opened summer 2026, sign approved by the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission) brings the Hull original’s lösgodis pick-and-mix wall, imported Swedish gummies, licorice, BUBS sour dizzy skulls, plus housemade fudge, sea salt caramels and ice cream to downtown Boston. Founded by Cape Cod locals Savanna Vaughn and Cara Crupi-Dulmaine, The Sweetish Fish debuted as a seasonal food trailer in summer 2025 and scaled fast: a Seaport pop-up at 100 Seaport Blvd (“Fireside at The Current,” Sept 2026–Jan 2027, with “Sweetish Fizz” draft sodas), the seasonal trailer at Off the Grid in Sandwich (91 MA-6A, daily 12–9 PM), a Martha’s Vineyard shop (1 So Water St, Edgartown), and now the permanent Chestnut Hill flagship. The model: a rotating “Catch of the Day” menu (8–18 international candies daily), full-service scooping, candy by the ounce or in pre-packed bags (Catch of the Day Mix from $14), at least one BUBS flavor guaranteed in every bag, plus chocolate sardines from a women-owned New England chocolatier. Western Massachusetts: Northampton

Lilla Swedish Candy: lördagsgodis on Main Street

150 Main St, Suite 80, Lower Level 1, Thornes Marketplace, Northampton, MA 01060 · Mon–Thu 10 AM–6 PM, Fri–Sat 10–8 PM, Sun 12–5 PM · lillacandy.co

Western Massachusetts has a dedicated Swedish candy store after all. Lilla Swedish Candy opened its first physical shop in July 2026 on the lower level of Thornes Marketplace in downtown Northampton, in the space Captain Candy used to occupy. Owners Nic Jansson and Holly Berrigan, a Whately couple who ran Lilla online first, built the shop around self-serve pick-and-mix: dozens of bins of imported Swedish sweets (60 to 85 bins was the pre-opening plan reported by BusinessWest), sold by the ounce, with pre-packed bags to go. The range runs from BUBS to hard-to-find regional favorites, salty licorice and chocolate, plus Swedish gifts and home goods and kanelbullar at the counter. Lilla’s own mixes lean clean: no artificial dyes, no high-fructose corn syrup, with vegan and gluten-free options throughout. For anyone west of Worcester, this is the in-person Swedish candy stop in the state, about two hours from Boston. Searches of Cambridge, Worcester and Springfield itself still surface no dedicated Swedish pick-and-mix; Northampton is the western option.
